From September 2025, the Department for Education is planning to introduce British Sign Language as a GCSE.
It will aim to teach students to effectively communicate using BSL and provide an understanding of the history of BSL in the UK.
This new GCSE follows a 12 week public consultation period with Parents, Teachers and Organisations from the deaf and hearing communities.
As an education agency who support Hearing Impaired resource provisions we know how important it is and an important life skill for advancing inclusivity within education and look forward to seeing the curriculum go live.
