Last night the government announced its commitment to publishing new mandatory and statutory guidance for schools regarding management of allergies and medical conditions.
With the likes of KITT Medical already setting schools up with life saving anaphylaxis kits and training this will only become more widespread.
A cause very close to our hearts, with our MD Laura having been an allergy sufferer for most of her life and developing a severe nut allergy at 14 (which was not common in the mid nineties), we know how important it is to keep environments safe and have extra adrenaline pens available.
We look forward to confirmation of this being signed into law in memory of Benedict Blythe, a 5 year old who passed away from anaphylaxis in school back in 2021. His family have worked tirelessly alongside charities, clinicians and patient groups to get to this point to prevent further tragedies.
