Following on from the What Works for Children’s Social Care pilot scheme, a new initiative is being launched this month whereby Teachers will be placed within social care teams at three local authorities. More than £400,000 has been allocated for the trials to take place in Bath & North East Somerset, York and Hartlepool councils.
Running for the academic year they will focus on breaking down barriers to education for children who have social workers, working alongside the schools and families. The scheme hopes to increase school attendance and attainment, reduce exclusions and provide better support for students with challenging behaviour.
